The “Fort Missanabie” is the shipwreck of a English cargo tank, torpedoed in May 1944. On the seabed, the view of the wreck, broken in two parts, is really impressive: the half with the armed stern is upright, with the majestic propellers raised from the bottom, while the half with the bow lies upside-down perpendicularly.
The wreck lies off the coast of Roccella Ionica and can be reached by boat, sailing 10 minutes. The visibility is generally fairly good, sometimes good. This dive site, for its characteristics, is reserved for very experienced divers, with Deep Air and Technical certifications.
The wreck is surrounded by dense shoals of anthias; there are many breams and snappers; shipwreck structures hide usually groupers, moray eels, conger eels.
