With over 15 years of experience in underwater training, since 2017, the Megale Hellas Diving Center has also become an SSI Dive Center and an SSI Extended Range Center, with a certified staff offering state-of-the-art recreational, technical, and professional SSI diving courses.

ABOUT SSI

The SCUBA SCHOOLS INTERNATIONAL training program was established in 1970 with the goal of making it possible for anyone to learn how to explore the underwater world. For over 45 years, SSI has been providing training, diving certifications, educational resources, instructors, dive centers, and resorts worldwide. Over time, SSI has grown to include more than 30 Service Centers and is represented in over 110 countries with more than 2,800 SSI centers.

Today, SSI offers training materials translated into more than 30 languages and is a trusted name in the global diving community. This success is due to its high standards, uncompromising approach, and focus on training methodology.

Every SSI Course follows the Diver Diamond Philosophy, which states that to be an efficient diver, you must focus on adequate knowledge, skills, equipment, and experience.

 

Course Type SCUBA DIVER
Requirements Age 10+ – Medical certificate – Parental consent – Swimming proficiency
Duration 3 theory lessons – 2 confined water sessions – 2 open water dives (maximum depth 12 m)
Objectives Fun – Exploring a new environment – Developing skills and motor abilities – Experiencing near-weightless flight – Learning about water sports

 

Course Type OPEN WATER DIVER
Requirements Minimum age 10 for Junior Open Water Diver, max 12 m – Minimum age 15 for Open Water Diver, maximum depth 18 m – Medical certificate – Swimming proficiency
Duration 6 theory lessons – 6 confined water sessions (pool or sea) – 4 open water dives (sea)
Objectives The Open Water Diver certification allows you to dive autonomously up to 18 meters deep, within safety limits, with a buddy of equal or higher certification.

 

Course Type ADVANCED ADVENTURER
Requirements Age 10-11 for Junior Advanced Adventurer, max 12 m – Age 12-14 for Junior Advanced Adventurer, max 18 m – Minimum age 15 for Advanced Adventurer, maximum depth 30 m – Open Water Diver certification – Medical certificate
Duration 5 theory lessons – 5 open water dives (sea)
Objectives The Advanced Adventurer certification, with a Deep dive, allows you to dive autonomously up to 30 meters deep, within safety limits, with a buddy of equal or higher certification.

 

Course Type REACT RIGHT
Requirements OPEN TO NON-DIVERS – Minimum age 12
Duration Minimum 6 theory lessons with practical exercises (8-12 hours)
Objectives This course provides theoretical and practical knowledge for:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and BLS-D (Basic Life Support Defibrillation), using mannequins and AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
  • FIRST AID (First Aid), both general and with a focus on diving incidents and injuries.
  • Certification in EMERGENCY OXYGEN ADMINISTRATION (Oxygen First Aid).

 

Course Type Specialty Diver STRESS AND RESCUE
Requirements Minimum age 12 – Medical certificate – Open Water Diver certification – Valid First Aid certification (issued within the last 2 years)
Duration 6 theory lessons – 3 confined water sessions (pool or sea) – 3 open water dives (maximum training depth 18 m)
Objectives Experience greater comfort by learning how to recognize and prevent stress – Learn proper aquatic rescue techniques to assist yourself and others in stressful and emergency situations – Increase your confidence and skill level.

 

Course Type Specialty Diver PERFECT BUOYANCY
Requirements Age 10-11 for Junior Diver (max 12 m) – Age 12-14 for Junior Diver (max 18 m) – Minimum age 15 for Perfect Buoyancy Diver – Medical certificate – Open Water Diver certification
Duration 4 theory lessons – 2 confined water sessions (pool or sea) – optional 2 open water dives (max 30 m).
Objectives The Perfect Buoyancy course focuses on perfecting buoyancy control, offering students the knowledge to improve body positioning during dives, reduce air consumption, and acquire skills that protect the environment.

 

Course Type Specialty Diver DEEP DIVING
Requirements Minimum age 15 – Medical certificate – Open Water Diver certification
Duration 5 theory lessons – 3 open water dives
Objectives The Deep Diving course provides students with the knowledge and skills to safely conduct deep dives in open water up to 40 meters deep within safety limits, with a buddy of equal or higher certification.

 

Course Type Specialty Diver Enriched Air NITROX
Requirements Age 10-11 for Junior Nitrox Diver (max 12 m) – Age 12-14 for Junior Nitrox Diver (max 18 m) – Minimum age 15 for Nitrox Diver – Medical certificate – Open Water Diver certification
Duration 4 theory lessons – optional 2 open water dives (max 30 m).
Objectives The Enriched Air NITROX certification allows diving with oxygen-nitrogen mixtures different from air (EAN 32 or EAN 40), within the maximum depth allowed by the mixture and the limits of your certification.

 

Course Type DECOMPRESSION DIVING
Requirements Minimum age 16 – Deep Diving and Enriched Air Nitrox 40 certifications – at least 24 logged dives – Medical certificate
Duration 4 theory lessons – 1 confined water session (pool or sea) – 3 open water dives (max 40 m).
Objectives The DECOMPRESSION Diving course provides students with the knowledge and skills to plan dives beyond no-decompression limits. The Decompression Diving certification allows safe deep dives up to 40 meters deep, with limited decompression, using a single recreational tank and a stage tank.

 

Course Type COMPUTER DIVING
Requirements Age 10-11 for Junior Computer Diver (max 12 m) – Age 12-14 for Junior Computer Diver (max 18 m) – Minimum age 15 for Computer Diver – Medical certificate – Open Water Diver certification
Duration 5 theory lessons – optional 2 open water dives (max 30 m).
Objectives The COMPUTER Diving course provides detailed information on the safe use of a dive computer.

 

Course Type Recreational SIDEMOUNT
Requirements Minimum age 12 – Medical certificate – Open Water Diver certification
Duration 5 theory lessons – 1 confined water session (pool or sea) – 3 open water dives (maximum training depth 30 m).
Objectives The Sidemount course teaches everything you need to conduct recreational dives with a sidemount system, using one or two tanks on your sides, up to a maximum depth of 30 meters or within your certification limits.

The Sidemount system reduces the weight of tanks on your back, increases dive duration, and adds redundancy for enhanced safety during dives.

 

Course Type Specialty Diver SEARCH & RECOVERY
Requirements Minimum age 12 – Medical certificate – Open Water Diver certification
Duration 4 theory lessons – 1 confined water session (pool or sea) – 2 open water dives (maximum training depth 30 m).
Objectives This course provides students with the skills to safely conduct search and recovery dives, assess water conditions and risks, and learn the necessary equipment for effective search and recovery operations.

 

Course Type Specialty Diver DRY SUIT
Requirements Age 10-14 for Junior Dry Suit Diver (max 18 m) – Minimum age 15 for Dry Suit Diver – Medical certificate – Open Water Diver certification
Duration 6 theory lessons – 1 confined water session (pool or sea) – 2 open water dives (maximum training depth 30 m).
Objectives This course provides students with the knowledge and techniques to dive comfortably and safely with a dry suit, practicing emergency procedures.
